Excelsior-Henderson Riders Club
Pioneer Chapter Meeting Minutes
Renegade's Bar and Grill,
Burnsville, MN - 15Jun2008
Director Randy Schwandt brought the meeting to order.
Treasurer’s Report
- Phil Ward reported the club is in good financial condition. Income
exceeded expenses in the last month so we’re financially stable.
Membership Report
- John couldn’t attend so in his stead Phil reported that we have 90
members. John Jones – 301 N Main St, Le Sueur MN 56058-4361 is our
membership chairman,
duc88825@hotmail.com, 507-665-4062.
Old Business
- Membership Gift – Mike Hamann has received the 5 ¾” winged patches for
our 2008 membership gift. Randy & Val will mail the patches to members in
the next couple of weeks. These patches will only be available to members,
and only one per member. There will be no additional sales.
- Teri Peterson Party June 28th - Teri Peterson is having a party to celebrate a
number of events including her 50th birthday and her moving to Arizona. She
wants to invite all of the Super X owners. It’s happening on June 28th at the
Crowne Plaza in Bloomington with a buffet at 7 PM and a band beginning at 8 PM.
She is asking for a $35 donation to help defray the cost as well as an RSVP. You
can contact Teri by e-mail at
terilynnpeters@hotmail.com
2008 Rally - July 9-13, 2008
- Motel – Phil Ward reported that all rooms at the Downtown Motel in Le
Sueur have been reserved.
- Poker Run – Ken Bretz reported that he’s got the route all set. We will be
having dinner at the Hide-Out in Lexington after the Poker Run. Randy or DR
Jones will confirm with the Hide-Out.
- Bike Show Awards – Ken Bretz showed a prototype of the award plaques. They
look quite nice.
- Rally T-Shirts – Mike Hamann presented two design options for the t-shirt
back, both based upon the Deadwood tank. The consensus was to use the option
with blue outlining. Mike will order the t-shirts this week. Randy, Phil, and
Mike will coordinate as to the number of shirts to order.
- Can Coolers – Mike Hamann asked if we wanted can coolers again this year, or
if we might want bandannas. Bandannas would cost about 2-3 times as much as the
can coolers, so for this year we’ll stick with can coolers. We’ll keep the
bandannas in mind for next year.
- Saturday Ride - Saturday morning Phil will be leading a ride to the National
Eagle Center in Wabasha, MN (about 110 miles each way) for all interested. The
National Eagle Center has great information on all species of eagles. You can
also have a picture taken of you & your bike with one of their resident eagles
for ten bucks or so.
- Meals – Considering we don’t have more than a few tables available at the
Motel, we’ll be going to one of the LeSueur parks. Location will be announced at
the Rally. Mavis and Amanda Ward will pick up the food for Thursday, and Randy &
Val Schwandt will pick up the food for Saturday.
- Bag stuffing – Mike will have the t-shirts, coolers, and stickers shipped to
Randy & Val’s house. The Wards and the Schwandts will make sure the Rally bags
are put together.
New Business
- Bikes for Sale – Donahue Harley in Sauk Rapids has a blue & white dealer bike
for sale (including crate) with all accessories except custom exhaust. They said
the VIN is #78, but dealer bikes were in the 100-200 range, so maybe the number
is 178. Regardless, contact them for more info. Jeff Kritta and Dan Niemeyer
also have bikes for sale.
- Fall Meeting/Ride – There was much discussion regarding a Fall Members
Ride-In. The attendees felt that the September meeting would be the prime time
for a ride-in. If you have any suggestions for a location forward them to Dennis
Johnson, Phil Ward, or any of the officers.
Next Meeting
- There will be no July meeting. The next regular meeting
(August 17, 2008 at 1 pm) will be an opportunity to ride to the outlands of SE
MN - it’s a cookout hosted at Randy & Val Schwandt’s house at 101 8th Ave NE in
Kasson MN (between Owatonna and Rochester). It's also a test run for a part of
Randy's (and Val's) Little Girl's wedding the following weekend.
