Pioneer Chapter Meeting Minutes

Waz was delayed, so Assistant Director Doc Jones brought the meeting to
order.
Secretary's Report
- Secretary Chuck had to work, therefore the attendees present at the last
meeting briefed attendees at this one on the January proceedings.
Treasurer’s Report –
Phil Ward
- We had some income from merchandise and from membership dues, and
expenses from Internet hosting, the Holiday party, and shipping. Phil
analyzed our position compared to last year at this time, and we are nearly
identical financially as last February. Additionally, we have approximately
100 t-shirts in inventory.
Membership Report – John Jones
- 2008 Membership - John Jones - 301 N Main St, Le Sueur MN 56058-4361 is
our membership chairman,
duc88825@hotmail.com, 507-665-4062. John reported membership at 32.
Since memberships now run from January through January, our membership drive
for 2008 is on. Please send your $20 yearly dues to John, or
renew at our website. Remember that
our elections are next month, and if you're not a member you can't vote (or
run for office) !
Rally 2008
- Motel - Doc spoke with the manager of the Le Sueur Downtown Motel,
507-665-6246, 510 North Main St. and there are only 12 rooms remaining out
of those we blocked for the Rally. Some major construction projects in the
area likely will cause the rooms to be filled quickly, so reserve your room
as soon as possible. Phil will contact the manager and check if the Chapter
can reserve the remainder of the rooms. We also have an apartment/suite
upstairs for Chapter use.
- Venue - We discussed where we might hold our events. There are two parks
we could use in Le Sueur in addition to having a tent at the hotel. The
feeling of the membership was that we should strive to have activities at
the same location, so we'll do as much as possible at the hotel. We are
interested in having a tent set up (a 20 x 40 should do). Doc will check the
availability and costs.
- Albert Lea - The gathering Wednesday evening at
Northstar Powersports &
Marine is always a good time. We'd like to again have that at a prelude
to our Rally if they are willing to have us. Chuck usually took care of the
arrangements and we'd like Chuck to handle this again. Phil will make sure
Chuck knows.
- Friday Evening - We've had our Friday evening meal at Whiskey River in
St. Peter for the last two years and would like to do this again. Waz will
contact them and make arrangements.
- Poker Run - Ken Bretz will again chair the ever-popular Friday Poker
Run. We need suggestions for a tour/event/activity during the run - the
brewery tour two years ago was great, but we need to wait a few years before
we repeat it. Let Ken or any of the officers know if you have a suggestion.
- Cushman Convention - Doc heard that the annual Cushman Convention is
going to be held in Farmington. He'll check whether it might be during the
Rally.
- Bike Show & Awards - There was some discussion about which awards to
give out, and the style of the awards. No decisions were made, but we need
to be thinking about it for the next meeting or two.
Old Business

Membership Gift - Ken will contact Mike Hamann and discuss
possible designs for Membership patches. In an effort to get the brand name
as part of the patch, we'll try to get "Excelsior Henderson Riders Club" on
them rather than just "Pioneer Chapter".
- 10 Year Anniversary -
- 2009 will be our 10th Rally and also 10 years for Excelsior-Henderson.
It's never too early to start thinking about it and making plans.
- Nils Andersson has started making plans for a 10 Year Anniversary Rally
in Sweden the first weekend in June, 2009. If you are interested in
attending that Rally, contact Nils at neco@algonet.se

Officer Nominations - We will be electing a new Director, a new
Secretary, and a new Membership Chairman at the March 2008 meeting. So far,
members officially nominated and accepting the nomination are Director: Randy
Schwandt, Secretary: Chuck Barsness and Bob "Young/Evil" Gerhart, Membership
Chair: John Jones. Nominated but not yet accepting the nomination are Buck
Bailey for Secretary and the popular favorite Dennis Fredrickson for Membership
Chairman and for Director. If you are interested or know a member that is
interested in running for office, please let us know.

- The next meeting will be at Stark's
Saloon, 3125 Dodd Rd, Eagan, MN (651) 454-8251 on March 16th at 1 PM (map).
